Safety and Efficiency in Winter Park

New Panels for Winter Park

Importance of Electrical Panels

Homeownership is the American dream. But with that dream comes an electrical system. A safe, energy-efficient, code-compliant electrical system is an economical investment along with an investment and peace of mind for you and your family.

Many current homes are older in age and behind the times when it comes to the wiring, the electrical panels, the electrical meter, and other electrical components within the home.

An electrical panel is a metal electrical service box that accepts the main power to the home and distributes electrical current to the various circuits within the home.  The distribution of power to the various circuits are protected from the overcurrent by the use of circuit breakers.

Should I replace or upgrade my electrical panel?  Circuit breaker panels typically last 20-40 years depending on the brand,  type,  usage,  capacity, and conditions.  Here are just a few questions to ask when determining if you need to upgrade or replace your electrical panel:

  • Does your home still have a fuse box?
  • Is your home more than 20 years old?
  • Is your electrical panel warm?
  • Does your electrical panel smell?
  • Do your electrical panel breakers trip often?
  • Do your appliances run at full capacity?
  • Do your lights dim or flicker?
  • Has your insurance company or an inspector thrown up a red flag?
  • Are you upgrading your appliances or adding on to your home?

If you have answered yes to any of the questions above, it is probably time for an upgrade.  Contact your Skolfield Electrical your Winter Park electrician for a consultation.
