EV (Electric Vehicle) Charger

Electromobility is becoming the norm. There are now more than 60 different models of electric cars available in North America. New models offer great performance and technology, and many received a 5-star safety rating. EV chargers come in many different shapes and sizes. However, the best ones share common features that stand out above the rest. You will want a charger with significant current output, ideally at least a 30 amp or higher maximum output. Some of the best models reach 50 amps, which will boost your battery quickly. Users should also look for lengthy cables to reach your vehicle from different outlets, with a common range for cables being between 16 and 24 feet long. Charge rates are another consideration, as are short circuit protections, and safety certifications. A Level 1 charger can take 8-12 hours, a Level 2 charger can take 4-6 hours, and a Level 3 can boost your batteries in half an hour. Let Skolfield Services get your new EV juiced up!

Level 1: Standard Wall Outlet (120 Volt) 1. Up to 5 miles of range per hour. 2. No installation required – every EV will come with 3. Level 1 charger that you can plug into the wall. 4. Best used for overnight charging and low-mileage daily driving – a good option for plug-in hybrid vehicles because of their smaller batteries. 5. J1772 connector or Tesla connector (comes with vehicle)

Level 2: 240-Volt Outlet (Dryer / Range Plug) 1. Average of 25 miles of range per hour. 2. Often found in public areas (rest areas, shopping centers, restaurants, etc.) 3.Option to purchase and have it installed by a qualified electrician – can be either hardwired or plugged into an existing 240-volt outlet (dryer/ range plug) 4.Best for quick charging – can get a full charge from empty overnight (8-10 hours)

Level 3: DC Fast Charging 1. Fastest electric car charging option – provides up to 250 miles of range per hour, depending on the car and charging equipment. 2. Can charge up to 80% typically in about 20 to 30 minutes. 3. Used to facilitate longer distance driving or road trips or for a quick recharge 4. Most non-Tesla chargers have a CCS/SAE Combo connector for easy plug and play. 5. Tesla DC fast chargers will only work with Tesla vehicles.
